Time and Money Tips

I admit it... Not all of these ideas can be considered 'original thought'!  They are a compilation of ideas & lessons that others have shared mixed with some lessons I have learned all by myself.  Hopefully mom was right when she said, "Learn from your mistakes!"  So...after making my own and learning from others, here are some tips to help keep your mistakes to a minimum!

1. Do some research BEFORE you start!  Look around, browse websites, ask a friend... Trust me, I KNOW you want to do "Do It Yourself" but someone out there has already tried it (or at least a similar version) and can help inspire your idea to become better than you first imagined!

2. Do NOT Rush!  Again, trust me!  I know exactly how it goes!  I feel your pain!  All the excitement and anticipation builds up... You saw something that inspired you and you want to start the project, or even the recipe, RIGHT NOW!  "Let the fun begin!  Wooo hoooo!"  But then....it starts to drag on...OR, you are like me and want to see the final result RIGHT AWAY!  Those sayings that you have heard soooo many times...The ones you roll your eyes about when you hear them..  "Good things come to those who wait" or "Patience is a virtue" ...as much as I hate to admit it, they are right!  In the world of crafting, DIY projects, and even cooking, TIME makes it all sooooo much better!  So take a deep breath and enjoy the journey!!

3. Make A LIST and CHECK it MORE THAN TWICE!  Even Santa checks twice!  You will have to go back to the store!  Things may not go "wrong" like Murphy's Law states, but there is always that one thing that's missing.  Not the right screws, not enough paint, you don't have the right sugar for recipe, blah...blah...blah.  Just face it!  I say, turn that "last run to the store" into something fun!  Stop and get a fancy coffee or a milkshake (after all, you've been working hard and those calories won't count..wink, wink).  Remember...Enjoy The Journey!
