I often wonder how people have chosen a name for their blog... I selected mine because I TRULY have "one lucky heart!" I was born with a heart defect (a missing artery that connects your heart & left lung). My heart worked 15 years of overtime, until medicine & technology allowed surgeons to implant a shunt to 'hook up' my left lung. With 2 open heart surgeries, numerous heart catheters, and countless medical tests I now have the use of both lungs and a medical diagnosis of a healthy heart! I feel truly blessed to be alive and kickin'! In fact...I completed my first Half Marathon this summer!
So now you understand the significance of the blog's title. A little more about me...
I am an artist, a mother of 2 (two dogs that is), a wife, a small business owner, and an educator. I started my "career" as an art studio major in college. I later graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Education (K-6). I spent years in the classroom teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. I am now working from home, helping my husband start a consulting company. Although I loved my time in the classroom, I have learned that my heart is most happy when my time is spent on more creative endeavors (and cruising the open ocean)! So...with more free time on my hands I have been able to utilize my experience with running a gift shop, assisting an interior designer, and working with kids to come up some
*handmade accessories (see my Etsy shop),
*creative DIY projects, and
*some yummy twists on recipes
Friends & family often ask me how I come up with my ideas...Thanks to fellow bloggers and artists, I have decided to share some of my ideas & finds! I hope you enjoy!
