Let's start by pointing out that if you need 1 of a kind Hair Accessories or Gifts (like koozies or K-Cup covers) you should start at my Etsy shop!
But if you saw something from one of my posts, then keep reading.....
I have Pottery Barn/Restoration Hardware/Brighton/Michael Kors kinda taste. But the problem is....I HATE their price tags! And I am not good at mindlessly thumbing through sale racks or scanning internet sites just waiting for someone's old items. (no offense!). So, I have become a FABULOUS shopper who finds things for less! When I do, I will let you know!

(1) In my DIY projects I have shared our Laundry Room makeover. Perhaps you wondered where the black chandelier came from? My initial thought was to search the internet for a cheap, old chandelier that I would repaint in addition to replacing crystals, chains, etc. As you know, I didn't want to spend a lot! Especially if I had to do all the work! I found a few but most of them were too large for my small space. Then I had an "Ahh Haaa" moment! Why not look in the CHILDREN'S SECTION!? There are a couple out there at stores like Walmart, Target (said with a french accent), and....drum roll please....Home Depot! I waited until it went on sale AND I had a coupon! So there ya go!
Also in the laundry room are our "hanging baskets." I searched high and low for the perfect laundry baskets! I wanted cute and I wanted two of them (1 for whites & 1 for darks). Have you checked out prices for laundry baskets? INSANE! The average is about $50 each. NO WAY was I going to spend a hundred bucks to hold dirty clothes! Then I saw a site where someone had hung their laundry bags. Perfect! It seemed cheaper AND save space! Especially if you keep up on laundry and they stay empty. HA! Anyway, I already had the white bag from an old metal framed laundry holder (which always let the bag slip and fall). So I only needed the black one! I looked at bags several places and, yep, Walmart was the one the beat! Only $2
Where did we find those cute accessories? Remember...I am not spending big bucks! I found cookie jars (I think were called snack jars) in the kitchen storage dept at Walmart. The lids were even silver, which matched the tiles behind the washer & drier! If not, I would have painted them white (since I already have white paint) or used a silver sharpie. Compared to cute storage jars found other places for ~$20 each...these were $5. Now that is what I'm talking about! I assumed I would buy the clothespins at my local dollar store, but they sell them in small quantities. Again, Walmart came to the recuse. Do not buy them in the craft section! Find the where the laundry boards are and you can get 100 clothespins for $2. Oh yeah! As for the laundry soap and scoop in the other jar? Now that's where the Dollar Store came in! 1 box of laundry soap (who cares what kind...it's for cutesie purposes only) was enough. And the scoop? They can be so expensive! Another "Ahhh haaa" moment....a $1 ice cream scoop! Once you shove down in the soap, NOBODY will know! Well...I ruined that for myself now didn't I? Anyone who reads this now knows my secret.
(2) A King size headboard for less than $100???? Your local home improvement store is amazing! Just take the time to see who has the better prices for each item! You can do that research from home in your jammies or on your phone from anywhere. Most home improvement stores will match prices buy the way, so no need to drive far! Save the gas money for something fun!
We went to the fence section and bought fence posts (with matching caps & feet) to make the sides. Combine that with a molding kit (which came with the crown molding AND the decorative squares for the corners) to outline a large sheet of beadboard. (check out my DIY projects for more details)
more to come.....
Don't forget.....I make & sell my own hair accessories! Check them out at - http://www.etsy.com/shop/KacyGahagan
